Herbal tea has grown popularity in recent years largely thanks to a wave positive publicity surrounding the benefits herbal tea and the vast array of appetising flavours which are now available.

There are many benefits of herbal tea so when choosing herbal tea, it is important to think about your lifestyle and what benefits are relevant to you.

Chamomile tea, for example, is renowned for its calming properties and is said to have a host of anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic properties.

Herbal teas are refreshing, calming, energising and often contain medicinal properties which have a positive effect on a variety of minor ailments. Certain herbal teas have properties that help to calm and create a sense relaxation, improve sleep, cleanse the body, invigorate the mind and improve circulation.

There are a huge variety of herbal tea choices available from tea houses and retailers alike however some of the more popular choices include peppermint for stress relief. It also helps with stomachs and digestive issues and helps to freshen the breath, ginger root for improving circulation, digestion and nausea, ginseng which stimulates vitality and helps the body stay healthy and echinacea during the flu season.

In addition to herbal tea benefits, you will find that they are a tasty treat and pleasure to drink.

To get the most from your herbal tea, I suggest adding a teaspoon of your preferred herbal tea to the infuser and letting it sit for five to ten minutes in freshly boiled water. It is important to wait until the water has cooled a little before adding to the pot of herbal tea, as boiling water can potentially damage the beneficial medicinal properties that your herbal tea contains. For the best tea you should remove the infuser after five to ten minutes.

If you are finding it hard to make the switch, consider interspersing an occasional cup between coffees, which will give your palate time to adjust to a new type of hot beverage
