Matilda Bay Alpha Pale Ale is a beer which falls under Garage Reserve Series from Matilda Bay. Alpha Pale Ale derives its name from the alpha acids in hops which, added early in the boil, impart an distinctive bitterness. Matilda Bay Alpha Pale Ale is brewed in the true North American Style Pale Ale style, using 100% pale malt with the addition of a small amount of dark crystal to add character and palate weight.

As one of the first Australian brews to incorporate cascade hops from the north-eastern US, it retains a punchy floral-citrus, hop aroma and complex orange-zest and tropical fruit flavours backed with a fuller malt character. Alpha Pale Ale has a bold bite, which gives this beer robust character. Overall this is another really good beer from Matilda Bay but a touch expensive for the average punter to drink all the time.
